Applied Learning or Fine Arts strives to provide students with opportunities in engaging activities that will generate interest, spark passion, increase application of skills and knowledge, and facilitate communities that cultivate productive, civically-minded members of society. Applied Learning for elementary students focuses on six areas: Civic Engagement, Music & Performing Arts, Physical Education, STEM & Computer Science, and Visual Arts.

Media

Hello! This is Ms. Dixon. Here are some great reminders for Media specials:

At Home Reading

Read a Book
- Students can read independently or with an adult at home.
Take an AR Quiz
- After finishing the book, students should take an Accelerated Reader (AR) Quiz.
- Goal: Score 80% or higher.
- Students can check to see if their book is an AR Book by logging onto arbookfind.com
Log Reading on Beanstack
- Record the book title and time spent reading in Broward County’s online Reading Log (Beanstack).
- Both Beanstack and AR are available in your child’s Clever account.

Paying For Books

Lost or Damaged Books
- Directions for payment are on Ms. Dixon’s Clever Webpage.
- Please allow 4–5 school days for the account to clear.
Reminder
- Encourage students to take care of their books.

Hello! I’m Coach Bernstein. I’m the Physical Education teacher here.

Bring a water bottle.
Wear proper athletic shoes/clothes.
Participate 😊.

I Incorporate these three domains in each of my lessons:

Psychomotor- The skill itself.
Cognitive- The why behind it.
Affective- How does it make you feel when you’re successful.
